Abstract

It was spring 2001 and we were sitting in the concert hall of the Kolarac Endowment in Belgrade. I was attending a concert of contemporary music in my capacity as a music critic. I was listening and, as usual, making notes in my notebook. Among other works, the programme included Exortus, a work by Marko Nikodijević, an aspiring young composer and classmate of mine from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Both of us had balcony seats, not far from one another.
