This paper summarizes one of the presentations for the panel entitled "international power engineering research collaborations" at the 2006 IEEE/PES General Meeting. This presentation focuses on the experience in Asia and, in particular, Hong Kong. The collaborations include that between universities and industry across borders, and between universities in different countries
