Except for influenza, the top five infectious diseases affecting greatest number of countries and regions were measles (49), dengue fever (26), chikungunya fever (8), poliomyelitis (8) and cerebrospinal meningitis (8). The top four infectious diseases with highest case fatality rates were Ebola virus disease (66.0%), Middle East respiratory syndrome (34.4%), Lassa fever (20.8%) and plague (16.0%). The top five infectious diseases with greatest number of deaths were measles, malaria, dengue fever, cholera and Ebola virus disease.
