Abstract
Rotary driving of a single micro/nano object is an important technology in assembling of micro/nano structures, handling of cells and other biological samples, micro/nano measurement etc. In 2013, our research group reported a method to rotate a single nanowire around a fiberglass in water. Based on the experiments, the rotary driving is caused by the acoustic streaming eddy around the micro manipulation probe (MMP). However, there has been little analyses on the ultrasonic transducer for the nanowire rotary driving, which makes the transducer's optimization impossible. In this work, vibration characteristics of the ultrasonic transducer including the MMP are analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). The working principle proposed in our previous work is verified by the FEM result. Furthermore, guidelines for designing the transducer are achieved.
