Abstract
Oil spills bring great negative impact on marine ecology and social economy. At present, remote sensing technology is an important tool for marine oil spill monitoring. In this paper, a marine oil film inversion method using infrared thermal imager was proposed to support sustainable tracking in the oil spill accident. Firstly, different amounts of oils were added into the experimental containers with the same water. Secondly, visible light images, infrared images and environmental data were collected continuously. Then, the infrared images were segmented for oil film detection by using Otsu, InterModes and ISODATA threshold methods. Finally, the effects of different adaptive threshold methods for oil film detection were compared. The results shown that the oil film inversion effect based on ISODATA threshold performed more superior.
