Abstract

Interventional Radiology (IR) is one of the most technologically advanced and fastest growing specialties of modern medicine. As a subspecialty of radiology, IR uses image-guidance via ultrasound, x-ray, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy to perform advanced, minimally-invasive procedures in an operating room type setting. Many procedures that once required surgery can be performed by an Interventional Radiologist without general anesthesia or incisions, thus enabling patients to go home the very same day.
