AN INFORMATIONAL-CARTOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE SOIL-ENVIRONMENT SYSTEM

Abstract

The author describes a method whereby the cartometric study of environmental maps and data from large-scale soil surveys are used as the basis for investigating relationships in the soil-climate system at the regional level. More specifically, a series of soil and environmental maps of the Barguzin Basin of Buryatia were superimposed on one another to ascertain the boundaries and areas of map units corresponding to the ecological ranges of the various soil types.
