Recoverable energy of antennas

Abstract

In this paper, a new way is introduced to define the concept of recoverable energy for general radiating structures. We also show that this recoverable energy can be maximized, that is, the maximum energy can be extracted from a certain electromagnetic field distribution by minimizing the radiative energy. This maximum recoverable energy obviously never is negative and it is totally coordinate independent. A loop antenna is employed to demonstrate the notions introduced.
