Abstract
Security is a major concern in wireless sensor networks deployed in hostile environments and localization protocols are also prone to attacks. In this paper we evaluate some robust range-based and range-free localization algorithms in terms of their resilience to attacks carried out by malicious beacons that try to deceive the localization process by providing incorrect location references. Simulations show that range-free techniques have similar performance to robust range-based localization algorithms, while they are not tied to any particular channel model.
