Abstract

Effective fault signal extracting techniques have a critical part for early fault diagnosis of a rotating machine. Pre-whitening methods are one of the ways to separate deterministic signals from random signals, they are linear prediction, self-adaptive noise cancellation, new cepstral etc. Afterwards, different pre-whitening methods were developed, like de-phase algorithm and DC offset cancellation. The paper presents review of those two methods applied to different types of rotating machines, test rig gearbox bearing fault and wind turbine gearbox bearing fault. Finally, the merits and demerits of these two methods are given.
