Abstract

Swarm Intelligence (SI) is a concept used by artificial intelligence to solve decision making problems. An Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm is inspired by SI algorithms uses multiple agents that interact locally and simple rules to find a globally valid solution. A version of ACO is implemented to automatically design the microstrip patch antenna. The experimental antenna is designed operates at 3.5 GHz with bandwidth 50 – 170 MHz.
