Strategi Peningkatan Pelayanan Kesehatan Narapidana Lanjut Usia (Studi di Lapas Kelas IIa Curup)

Abstract

Elderly inmates are one of the categories of special needs inmates in correctional institutions. One form of special treatment for elderly inmates is the ease of access to health, considering that this group is very susceptible to disease risk coupled with the condition of overcrowded prisons. This study aims to find strategies or efforts to improve health services for elderly inmates in Lapas Class IIA Curup. The research method used is qualitative research with case study methods. Data retrieval techniques in this case study use observation and interview techniques. By involving two informants, namely elderly inmates and medical personnel. The results showed shortcomings in efforts to fulfill health services, such as obstacles in the procurement process of medicines, the absence of 24-hour clinics, and the absence of psychologists. Strategies have been carried out using promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative approaches.
