An Approach to tackle Road Traffic Using Number Plate

Abstract

This paper deals with reviewing the problem of Road Traffic Jams mainly in the cities and provide the alternative solution to it. The goal is to alleviate the problem of road congestion by providing prior information about the passage to the travellers The concept is road traffic jams could be reduced if travellers can be somehow informed to follow alternative pathways instead of following the original path to reach their destinations. Number plate detection technique is used to identifying the vehicle and their speed. In this paper, I tried to detect total number of vehicle on a particular lane, within a certain range, say 3 km-this range is flexible and depends on the density of vehicles in the area- and then display information with audio about traffic on the LED screen, which will be updated after specified time interval.
