Abstract
This paper describes a new type of evolvable hardware (EHW). While most EHW research employs hardware evolution at the level of primitive gates (i.e. gate-level evolution), our alternative synthesizes hardware circuits with higher-level functions. We call this evolution "function-level evolution". In this paper, two applications of function-level EHW are described.
