Power quality in weak grids containing wind turbines

Abstract

In this paper, effect of the wind turbines to power quality in weak grid is described. During the implementation of this study, number of measurement series was carried out in different substations in Saaremaa island. The main attention was on one wind park in Sorve peninsula, where one of the first renewed wind turbines were installed. During the measurements possible impact of wind turbines to power quality in 10 kV and 35 kV power grid was checked and analysed and the results were compared to relevant standards.
