Abstract

The paper is aimed at analyzing the influence of the diameter of a peaking capacitor’s inner core on the radiating-field of a biconical antenna for EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) simulation. Results of numerical simulation show that as the increase of the diameter of the inner core, the amplitude of the radiating-field in the center of the antenna decreases before the turn-on of the output switch, and after the turn-on of the output switch, the same law is discovered for radiating-field in the observation point 3m away from the center of the antenna. The results indicate that in order to improve the amplitude efficiency of the EMP simulator, the diameter of capacitor’s inner core should be as small as possible.
