Abstract
An algorithm based on the application of transmission line theory to the propagation of both acoustic and electromagnetic waves in isotropic media having arbitrary velocity and impedance profiles is presented to calculate the space evolution of the reflection coefficient. Several cases will be presented to demonstrate the validity of the algorithm.
