Abstract
The paper discusses the interactions between machine learning and intelligent control. The presentation is divided into four sections. The first section is devoted to the trends in the development of the two disciplines, machine learning and intelligent control. In the second section, the panelists' view on the main paradigm within the two disciplines are presented. The following section contains the common challenges to both communities which occur as a result of the need to control complex dynamic systems. In the last section, some similarities between the research issues and methods in the two disciplines are identified.<>
