Abstract
The effect of long term exposure of lead nitrate in Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) was studied. The fish were exposed to a sub-lethal dose of 4.0 mg/l (20% of 96 hr LC50 value of lead nitrate) for a period of 28 days. Serum ALT, AST, creatinine, urea, total protein, Albumin and Serum glucose, were measured both in control and experimental fish. During various exposure periods (7, 14, 21 and 28days) the levels of, serum ALT and AST, serum glucose, total urea and createnine levels were (P<0.05) significantly higher in the experimental fish more than the control, while the serum total protein and albumin were decreased significantly (P<0.05) in experimental fish.
