Abstract
This paper is focused on railway timetabling in suburban areas and presents a new proposal of possible variants of operational concepts for railway line 171 Praha – Beroun, especially variants of zone-oriented timetable. This type of timetable is generally found as an attractive suburban railway transport operational concept on busy radial railway lines and can be an important part of the active policy of Smart Cities. At first, the method for timetable transportation assessment is proposed. Subsequently, there are described principles of zone-oriented timetable. It is followed by a proposal of different operational concept variants for railway line 171 Praha – Beroun (one-level service and several variants of zone-oriented timetable). Finally, all proposed variants of the operational concept are assessed in a transportation way.
