Abstract

In this review, we selected information necessary for epidemiological assessment of nutritional health. The review is divided into six themes: legislation that supports food and nutrition policies; the importance of epidemiological studies; evaluation criteria for the epidemiological profile of nutritional health; references for classification and assessment of nutritional health status; nutritional status related to the risk of nontransmissible chronic morbidities and methods for assessing the risk of malnutrition. Through this kind of study, it is possible to identify the nutritional health profile through anthropometric measurements and possible risks of malnutrition in the population.
