Abstract

The overuse of medications headache is a common that is according to various studies in 1% of the world, therefore research is relevant to identify and clarify the most important aspects of this pathology. The objective of this prospective descriptive study, cross-type was to determine the pharmacological and clinical characteristics of headache drug abuse in patients with vascular headache and migraine consulting the University Hospital of Neiva, from August to November 2011 to the neurology service, which was performed by applying a survey of people already mentioned and which were established to study the different variables. The results showed similar behavior to what is already established in the literature found, however, the pharmacological characterization in the lead role is played by NSAIDs and their use because it corresponds to the drugs most often provided in our system of health security. It is therefore necessary that the medical staff and specialist knows the diagnostic criteria and treatment of this disease is common but rarely diagnosed, it is equally important to emphasize to patients the possibility of developing the disease if there is abuse the dose of medication and the need to avoid eating them without proper prescription.
