This chapter addresses the issues associated with the convergence of education and tourism in the context of TEFL tourism (i.e., tourism that involves teaching English as a foreign language). Differences in teaching practice between the developed and developing worlds, ethnocentric perceptions of educational provision, the definition of 'teacher', TEFL training and qualifications, and teacher skills and suitability are discussed.
