Relationship between Polarization Mode Dispersion and Crosstalk in Heterogeneous Multi-core Fibers with Different Cladding Diameters

Abstract

We experimentally investigate the relationship between crosstalk and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in two heterogeneous multi-core fibers with different cladding diameters. We observed that increasing the cladding diameter improves the crosstalk, but deteriorates the PMD.
