Abstract

A methodology for surface reconstruction that uses distance as the metric in determining an appropriate solution is presented. This metric is used because the primary application of the method is for reconstructing objects inside luggage, which requires a fast solution. Corner points from one contour are mapped to the other contour. The results do not produce a Eulerian path. Additional span lengths have to be added to the graph. The method addresses pathological problems that could occur in reconstructing the object by solving for the contours' center and using the offset of the center to map corner points.
