Abstract

The communication presents a case study dealing with the characterization and monitoring of moisture at the Crypt of Sant’Agnese in Agone Church, Rome, Italy. Ground penetrating radar was employed to perform an electromagnetic characterization of the Crypt walls and identify permittivity variations ascribable to changes of environmental conditions. These last were controlled by means of an Air Decomposition Unit and recorded daily, by using temperature and humidity sensors.
