A software architecture for workflow management systems

Abstract

This research paper contributes a software architecture for workflow management systems. The architecture is separated into two pieces: the implementation model comprises a system-independent logical model of a workflow management system, i.e. the major components and their interrelationships are described. The implementation architecture shows how this model is enacted.
