Abstract

Electromagnetic induction coil gun systems have recently gained popularity due to the benefit of non-contact between the stator and armature coils. Several studies use the finite element method to simulate and analyze the coil gun system. However, there are still flaws in the present coil gun modelling studies. In a single stage coil gun, the magnetic field effect is to be analyzed for attaining high velocity as well as high efficiency for energy conversion. This paper discusses the design of a single staged seven layered induction coil gun system and also include different studies to maximize efficiency while reducing design time and cost.
