On-Line Dynamic Security Assessment: Feasibility Studies

Abstract

This paper describes the results of feasibility studies conducted to evaluate the suitability of various technologies for use in an on-line Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) program. The studies were completed by EPRI in the first phase of a project which is expected to result in an on-line energy management system program capable of calculating "real-time" stability limits and presenting to the system operator a margin to instability.
