Abstract
Ultra-Fast DC charging station is a novel technology appeared to Electric Vehicle charging market, which is attractive for the operator and EV drivers by virtue of its fast charging speed for 10 mins to fulfill an EV and high efficiency of charging power. Current studies mainly focus on overall charging behaviors such as EV types, charging control method and customers charging frequencies. However, there is lack of research concluding the progress of Ultra-Fast DC charging station. This paper reviews the development and accomplishment of Ultra-Fast DC charging station. It built up in the following sections: the scale of fast charging station, advanced technology, upgradability, grid impact, the impact on EV penetration level, availability and commercial assessment. This investigation can guide further research towards DC fast charging station. The technology of fast charging station is already mature until now. The government support is the pillar of establishing consortium to activate charging stations in practice. More study should pay attention to how to enact government policy to promote charging units and how technology can solve grid impact of charging stations. In addition, new business model and how to set up charging price should be considered carefully. This review paper provides a powerful tool to enable UltraFast DC charging station come from scientific research into life, which can not only benefit EV users, but also operators to reduce expenditure and increase profit to accommodate large number EVs on the networks.
