An Assessment of Factors for Decision Makingin Facilities Management Services Procurement Options

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and prioritize the criteria underpinning facilities management (FM) service, compare outsourcing and in-house approaches in terms of their capabilities in providing the components and sub-categories of FM functions.Results of investigations and analyses into range of FM functions reveal that holistic FM services comprise four distinct broad categories of service. In order of significance, these are: strategic management, operational management, property development / project management, and general services. In this context, strategic management was perceived to be the most important FM functional area.
