Abstract
one of the most important issues that involves the researchers is selecting an appropriate power electronic converter in different applications. In this paper, to improve the power quality of voltage source inverters, the two most widely used strategies are simulated and analyzed. The voltage reinjection strategy by injecting a 9 levels voltage waveform into a 12-pulse converter can increase the number of pulses to 108 and reduce the THD by 2 percent. Also, the simulated modulation-based converter by an LC passive filter can achieve an identical result. Eventually, a comprehensive comparison is made in terms of stability in the variation of power rating and power factor, costs relative to the nominal power, losses and efficiency. It is shown that the modulation because of low cost and output accuracy is suitable for a large range of low power applications. On the other hand, in high power the voltage reinjections strategy because of high efficiency has a better performance. The simulations approve the final results of the comparison of two analyzed configurations.
