Abstract
The effects of the Coulomb and Lorenz gauges on the field formulation for superconducting transmission lines are examined. While either of the two correctly determines the electromagnetic fields of the structure, it is shown that when certain restrictions, which lead to a more chaste and direct formulation, are placed on the behavior of the magnetic vector potential, a single gauge is preferred, if not indeed forced.
