Abstract

Currently the development of research QoS algorithms over IEEE 802.11 based WLAN finds a difficult path into the market as access methods such as PCF or the newer EDCF and HCF methods have not been implemented in commercial products. This work presents a simple QoS management protocol, meant as a practical extension to current device drivers, which is able to operate on devices using the DCF access method. A test-bed and an algorithm are also set up to show the protocol performance and usability.
