Abstract
A method of encoding digital medical mammograms is presented in this paper. Based on the JPEG2000 coding framework and embedded with an advanced perceptual distortion measure, the proposed coder identifies and removes visually insignificant/irrelevant information, so as to achieve perceptually lossless quality.
