Abstract

This paper presents investigation on partial discharges (PD) activity inside the components of cable accessories. Due to the improper installing (poor workmanship) of cable joints, various types of defects could appear. The epilogue of such condition is the resulting risk for the long or even short term behavior of the insulation system, which exactly depends on the type, form, size and location of the defect. Defect site mostly results in field enhancement and generates partial discharge activities.
