Abstract

Power transmission in the track of roller conveyors is performed by a frictionally engaged connection between drive belt, rollers and the conveyed boxes. Customary roller conveyors as a part of intralogistic facilities are designed, so that there occurs only a state of steady stiction between the belt and the rollers even in transient sequences. However, wear-out effects can lead to a change in the material characteristics and belt-tension and thus to a change of the performance characteristics of the conveyor system. In order to investigate the influence of such effects on the system behaviour, an analytical electromechanical model presented in a previous publication has been enhanced by considering possible slip between drive belt and rollers. Simulation results are compared with measurements, giving a good overview on how different operating states of static and kinetic friction influence the transient behaviour of the system.
