Abstract

Residential Sector is among the major consumers of energy especially considering the power sector. The constantly growing energy demand of this sector can be achieved under two scenarios. Either we have to increase the resource supply, or we start producing comparatively more efficient devices. This study assesses the energy savings obtained through technological advancements in residential sector of Pakistan through utilization of Solar Fans. Long Range Energy Alternative Planning (LEAP) model is used to forecast the energy outlook of this sector in 2040 under different scenarios. A complete feasibility study has been performed depicting both the energy savings and economic considerations. Results obtained from the model depicts that Solar fans can attain a penetration level of 30% by 2040. This will consequently result in energy savings of about 5000 GWh even after regular growth in consumption of residential sector due to demand drivers.
