Abstract

Dead-time systems are commonly encountered and are utilized to portray various real-world processes. The efficient controlling of such systems especially with unstable dynamics has always been an attractive as well as challenging field of research. In this paper, the performance of a PID (Proportional, Integral and Derivative) controller, Smith predictor, and modified Smith predictor are analyzed for dead-time systems, and a comparative study is done.
