Abstract
In the sensor network applications, the data often transfer from a node to the sink node using multihop technology. Since the data received at the sink node to collect from many nodes the data traffic is considered. In this paper, we present DMAC (Data Gathering Medium Access Control) protocol, an efficient energy and low delay time for gathering data on WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks) based on the data gathering tree structure. DMAC protocol is proposed to solve the interruption problem that suffers from a data forwarding when using MAC protocol and allows continuous packet forwarding by proving the suitable sleep schedule of a node that depends upon its depth on the tree. Based on the protocol, we adjust the duty cycles adaptively according to the traffic load in the network. Besides, we apply a data prediction mechanism for proposed scheme and use of More-To-Send (MTS) packets in order to avoid problems pertaining to channel contention and collisions. As a result, DMAC protocol improves energy consumption and delay time of networks clearly while ensuring high data reliability.
