A survey of 1 Gb/s 850 nm COTS transceivers for 100 /spl mu/m core military/aerospace fiber-optic platforms

Abstract

Many unique challenges need to be managed when using COTS transceivers for military/aerospace applications. In this paper we summarize results of our survey of COTS suppliers transceivers for military/aerospace fiber optic networks using 100 /spl mu/m core optical fiber. The factors of performance, price, compatibility, reliability and vendor responsiveness are evaluated and summarized.
