Abstract
The interface between the central computer and endpoint devices in digital control systems built on the «outstretched hand» principle is considered. It is shown that it is possible to bring the complexity of the endpoint devices to the automatic level. The lack of control algorithms at the peripheral level eliminates the need to redesign the endpoint devices when upgrading the system.
