The propose method is used to locate the PD signal in three phase MV underground cross-link polyethylene (XLPE) cable with 240 mm2 size and 3 km length between two substations. On-site measurement has been carried out to verify the ability of method to detect PD signal and compare with previous method by utility. The analysis of PD signal using FFT was performed to characterize the actual PD signal. Abstract

This paper presents the measurement and detection techniques of partial discharge (PD) on medium voltage power cable with the idea to propose simplest and accurate online on-site PD measurement.
