Abstract

The controllers used in efficiency-constrained BLDC motor drive applications used in electric vehicles demand better controlling methods for higher output efficiency while keeping the controller at its peak performance. This paper presents a microprocessor based sinusoidal PWM implementation that will optimize the overall efficiency and eliminate the higher order harmonics available in the system which causes most of the waveform related power losses and unstable torque variations. Also the key effects of practical switching constrains on the efficiency and harmonics generation are discussed
