The Power Globe Celebrates Thirty Years

Abstract

The Power Globe is an Internet remailer facility which has an objective of broadcasting information on electric power engineering worldwide. It is implemented using an open subscription listserver available to enrolled subscribers who can add or remove about 7500 subscribers worldwide, with 5 to 15 messages being distributed on an average day. This paper describes some details on the types of messages posted on the Power Globe, details on the traffic, value, strengths and problematic issues of this facility. The impact of the 2020–21 covid-19 pandemic is discussed. The year 2021 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Power Globe.
