Abstract
Recent technological advancements have led to people using automation extensively in different fields of work such as business, management, administration, law enforcement, etc. Incorporation of robotics in the field of law enforcement ensures a safe and smart environment for regulating bodies. Multiple statistical records of prisons in India clearly show safety risk for officers on surveillance duty and hence the need to develop a model to cater to this problem arises. An optimistic solution to this problem is to develop a model which can monitor prisons, is user friendly and can be dynamically controlled. This paper discusses an automated surveillance system designed to keep a watch on prisoners and has the capability to mark their attendance through streaming portal. The model has a 74% working efficiency and the run-time is approximately 4 hours. The prototype features visual capturing, effective communication between machine and operator, transfer of visuals and exchange of data and commands using camera, screens, image processing and various protocols such as TCP and FTP. Thus, the model is not only efficient but also has all features that an optimistic solution should have.
