Study on the “Bird” as a Core Word in Yusuf Khass Hajib’s Qutadğu Bilig

Abstract

The core words play very important role in the study of the vocabulary of a language. This article discusses for the first time the word 'bird' in Qutad ğ u Bilig (Wisdom of Royal Glory) from the perspective of the core word. An exhaustive search of relevant classic literature and inscriptions was conducted with semantic field theory, and a detailed co-temporal description of the members of the same concept presented. At the same time, the current use of these words is also discussed in the paper.
