Hıristiyan Arap Yuhanna ed-Dımeşkî’nin İslam Eleştirisi

Abstract

Oz Islam’i elestirme noktasinda oncu Hiristiyan teologlardan biri hic suphesiz Yuhanna ed-Dimeski’dir (675-749). Emeviler doneminde yasayan ve son kilise babasi kabul edilen Yuhanna ed-Dimeski, Hiristiyan teolojisini savunmak maksadiyla pek cok eser kaleme almistir. En onemli eserlerinden biri olan “Bilginin Kaynagi” icerisinde bir kisim olan “Ismaililerin Sapikligi” baslikli yazisi ise Islam’a iliskin goruslerini barindirmaktadir. Bu calismada Yuhanna ed-Dimeski’nin ilgili eseri esas alinarak onun Islam ve Muslumanlara iliskin gorusleri incelenecektir. Boylelikle Hiristiyanlarin erken donemlerden itibaren Islam’a yonelik dusunceleri ve bunun arka plani Yuhanna ozelinde ortaya konmaya calisilacaktir. Abstract One of the leading Christian theologians to criticize Islam is undoubtedly John of Damascus (675-749). John of Damascus, who lived in the Umayyad period and was accepted as the last father of the church, wrote many works for the defense of Christian theology. The chapter that named The Heresy of Ishmaelites located in one of his most important works, The Fount of Knowledge, contains his views on Islam. In this study, his views on Islam and Muslims will be examined based on the relevant work John of Damascus. In this way, Christians’ thoughts about Islam from the early periods and the back ground of this will be put forward in the context of John.
