Abstract
In this paper, the low-latitude maritime mobile radio propagation measurement and model are demonstrated over a distance of 42 km. The specific feature of this scenario is using a novel high-sensitivity communication system (Received Signal Strength Indication: RSSI -142 dBm typical) with a low power 20 mW 920 MHz transmitter. In addition, comparing the LOS (Line of Sight) propagation and the NLOS (Non-LOS) propagation for a small hill island, it was clarified that there is no significant difference between RSSI and distance due to diffraction and scattering in an atmospheric duct.
