Abstract

The suitable excitation source plays the key role in high-performance optically controlled microwave switch. In this paper, two methods of light-feeding design of the fiber-coupled laser diode are analyzed and measured. The Light-state insertion loss and reliability of the system of different feeding methods are detailed analyzed. Finally, the pulse driven method is determined as the reliable light-feeding design method. The system made of pulse driven fiber-coupled laser diode has better stability and reliability. This type of laser diode can be used in the design of optically controlled active frequency selective surface (AFSS).
